AP
Perryman Lee Perryman is Deputy Director of AP's broadcast division and Director of Broadcast Technology. He joined AP in 1980 as Broadcast Executive for Florida, followed by Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. In 1985, he was assigned to the Office of the Director in Washington and, in 1997, was named Deputy Director, Administration, responsible for day-to-day administrative operations, contract administration, strategic planning, budgeting, and development/implementation of administrative and news/weather relay systems. He also served as Assistant Secretary of AP until 1995. Since 1989, his primary focus has been technology projects. Perryman started his career in local radio station management, sales, programming and engineering and is a graduate of the University of Alabama..
 
Burke Bill Burke is Product Manager, assisting in setting the ENPS development agenda and in managing enterprise ENPS installations such as ESPN and Tribune Broadcasting. Before joining AP, he was a news director, news manager, and producer at stations in south Florida including WPBF-TV, WTVJ-TV, WPLG-TV, WPTV-TV and WPEC-TV and later served as assistant news director at WIS-TV in Columbia, South Carolina. At WPBF-TV, Burke and his staff won Murrow and AP awards for Best Newscast in 1996. He received an Emmy for spot news coverage while at WIS-TV and served as executive producer on the WTVJ-TV team that won DuPont, Murrow and Peabody awards for coverage of Hurricane Andrew in 1992. Burke earned undergraduate and masters degrees in English from the University of Virginia.
 
Hopman Brian Hopman is National Television Executive. Since joining AP in 1998 as Technical Marketing Coordinator, Hopman has worked on the technical and business development side of the Broadcast Technology group. In 2002, he became Sales Associate and began developing new business opportunities for AP's software products in Latin America, the Caribbean and parts of the United States. In 2005, he was promoted to National Television Executive and now manages AP's relationships with broadcast networks such as Univision and Telemundo, as well as customers in 16 countries. In 2004 and 2005, AP awarded him Sales Achievement Awards for exceeding goals. Prior to joining AP, Hopman held positions in newsrooms at WBAL-TV, Baltimore, and WISN-TV, Milwaukee. Hopman is a graduate of Marquette University, Milwaukee, with a B.A. in Political Science and Broadcast Journalism, and is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.
 
Meston Randall Meston is Director of International Operations. From 1994-1996, he was Technology Development Manager for AP's broadcast division, responsible for development, design, testing and deployment of news technology products. From 1981-1994, he was Senior Broadcast Engineer and News Systems Manager at KVOA-TV, Tucson, Ariz., where he supervised staff involved in resource coordination and procurement of news, engineering and production facilities and equipment. Meston was also Field Service Engineer, satellite and microwave services, for a Dallas, Tex., company and a Signals Intelligence Officer for the U.S. Marine Corps.
 
Morrissey John Morrissey is Technical Support Manager. Since August 1998, he had been a senior project manager with Alcatel USA, Inc., part of the French telecommunications giant, managing technical, logistics, and implementation functions for new Internet projects in North America. In 1990, Morrissey joined AP's broadcast division in Washington as the first staff addition connected with the launch NewsDesk and became a key player in the introduction of NewsCenter in 1993 and ENPS in 1997. He was later promoted to Operations Manager for the Broadcast Technology group where, until 1998, he managed installation and support teams for our news software systems and represented AP on various news industry technical standards committees. In 1989-1990, he was a marketing systems analyst for United Press International, and, from 1985-1989, was an account specialist for IBM, with responsibilities for technical and administrative support for major accounts. Morrissey has a degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Management Information Systems/Decision Sciences, from Old Dominion University.
 
Palmer Mike Palmer is Director of Broadcast Digital Distribution Systems and Strategy. Since joining AP in 1998, Palmer has played a leadership role in key areas within the organization and the industry. He has been a driving force and a spokesman for the MOS protocol, a newsroom integration tool recognized by much of the industry as the gold standard for machine communication in the newsroom. As a result in 2001, Palmer was awarded the prestigious Oliver Gramling Award for Achievement by AP. Palmer also has been a key architect of the AP's ENPS software and other products in his role as Director of Technology Development, a position he still retains. Prior to 1998, he worked in local news and engineering operations in positions ranging from field photographer to news operations manager. Palmer also held management positions in satellite operations at Conus and USSB, both pioneers in the satellite industry. Palmer is a Mass Communications (Journalism) graduate of the University of Southern Colorado, and studied electrical engineering at Texas A&M University.
 
Rickart Warren Rickart is Business Manager. From January 1994 through early 2000, Rickart had been with MTV Networks Latin America, Miami Beach, most recently as Manager, Studio Operations, and directly responsible for supervision, preparation and scheduling of all studio production and events; studio budget management and financial reporting; and facilities contract management. Earlier, he was Manager, Financial Planning, with similar responsibilities including management of all general business affairs for the production and programming division. From March 1988 through the end of 1993, Rickart was Business Manager for AP's Broadcast Services division in Washington. Earlier, from 1985-1986, he was with Ferris & Company, Washington, as Marketing Administrator and Assistant to the Vice President, Partnership Investment Department. In 1984-1985, he was with the District of Columbia National Bank (now NationsBank) as a Loan Assistant in the Commercial Banking division. Rickart earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Michigan.
 
Smith Jason Smith is Project Manager. After joining AP in 2000 as Training Coordinator, he was soon named Operations Manager, a position he held until early 2005. Previously, he had been Executive Producer of San Francisco-based Zatso, responsible for running its 30-person Internet newsroom since last October. He leveraged experience at ZDTV there starting in early 1999 as a news writer and producer. In 1997-1998, he was Supervising Producer at KSNW-TV, Wichita, Kan. Earlier, he had writing and production experience at WPXI-TV, Pittsburgh, and WIS-TV, Columbia. S.C. Smith earned a B.S. in Managerial Economics from Carnegie Mellon University and an M.A. in Journalism from the University of Missouri, Columbia.
 
Webster Joe Webster is Manager, Marketing Technology and Communications. Prior to joining AP, Webster was Director of Interactive Media for Anilogic, a D.C.-based media services company. In addition to developing hybrid and interactive training and marketing projects for ENPS, major clients included ConAgra Foundation/AdCouncil and Pearson Education. From 1998-2002, Webster was President of Pale Blue Media, whose key clients included the World Bank, the Cooperative Hall of Fame, Legal Placements, and the Cooperative Development Foundation. He did freelance production work from 1996-1998 for the World Bank, the Washington Historical Society, Consumer Reports, WRC-TV, InstaSPORTS, Gannett, NewsGroup Inc., and the Environmental Protection Agency. Prior to 1996, he was with National Productions as a Senior Editor on projects for the World Bank, Disabled American Veterans, the D.C. Office of Cable Television, and Agricultural Cooperative Development International. Webster's earliest broadcast experience was in the Washington bureau of RFD-TV as photographer and editor covering the USDA and Capitol Hill. He later attended the University of Kansas as an English major and, in 1992, moved to Prague and worked as an English tutor.
 
Wormser Andy Wormser is Operations Manager. Prior to joining AP, he had been news director at Hearst-Argyle's WPTZ-TV/WNNE-TV, Burlington, Vt./Plattsburgh, N.Y., since 1999, with additional responsibility for ENPS implementation and training for Hearst-Argyle's television station group since 2002. In 1989, Wormser began his television news career at KCAU-TV, Sioux City, Iowa, then joined WPTZ-TV in 1990 as a bureau chief/reporter in Burlington, moving to Plattsburgh in 1994 as assignment editor. In 1995-96, he was the assignment editor for WGME-TV, Portland, Me., and returned to WPTZ-TV/WNNE-TV as assistant news director and assignment editor in 1996. He served as president of two state AP broadcast organizations. Wormser earned undergraduate and masters degrees from Northwestern University.
 
Beddia Diane Beddia is News Production Specialist. From 1998-2005, she was an Evening Production Supervisor with WBBH-TV & WZVN-TV, Ft. Myers, Fla. She was also a Field Producer at WZVN-TV in 2004 and a Post-Production Director at WBBH-TV in 2003. In 1997, Beddia worked with WEUI-TV, Charleston, Ill., as a Production Assistant, following the same role at WCIA-TV, Champaign, Ill., in 1996. She also has experience in public relations and marketing. Beddia is a graduate of Eastern Illinois University, Charleston, Ill.
 
Berg Ryan Berg is News Systems Specialist. Prior to joining AP, since 2004, he had been a network administrator with InnSuites Hospitality Trust, Phoenix, Ariz., responsible for hardware, software, cabling, and support issues for the company's properties throughout the southwest. Earlier, from 2002-2004, he was a technical consultant for Hampshire College, involved in hardware, software, support and technical writing/training. Berg earned a B.A., with emphases in law, technology and network security, from Hampshire College, Amherst, Mass.
 
Doyle Brian Doyle is News Production Specialist. Prior to joining AP, he worked in the Washington bureau of Medill News Service, where he served many U.S. television stations as the videographer for their D.C. correspondents. Earlier, he was a videographer with CBS affiliate WCTV-TV, Tallahassee, and Seminole Productions, Florida State University. Doyle earned a B.S., Media Production, from FSU's College of Communication.
 
Finney Eric Finney is News Production Specialist. Prior to joining AP, he had been with TVB News, Hong Kong, since Oct. 2002 as an English anchor and reporter covering local and international stories. Earlier in 2002, he was a radio news writer with KNX 1070, Los Angeles. Finney earned a Bachelors degree in government (international relations) from Georgetown University, Washington DC, and a Masters in broadcast journalism from the Univ. of Southern California, Los Angeles.
 
Haskell Charles Haskell is News Systems Specialist. Prior to joining AP, he had been an overnight desk editor/news producer with the Washington bureau of NBC News since 2005 and, in 2004, was a production intern for NBC Nightly News in New York. He was also the arts and entertainment editor for The Green Print, New Brunswick, N.J., in 2004-2005. Haskell is an honors graduate of Rutgers University, where he majored in journalism and media studies.
 
Higdon Rob Higdon is Implementation Manager. Before joining AP, from 1995-1999, he was a reporter/producer for WSBA-AM/WARM-FM, York, Penn., where he hosted a morning news hour and covered sports. While in college, he worked in sports reporting, management and production roles at WFNM-FM, Lancaster, Penn. Higdon is a graduate of Franklin & Marshall College and also has MCSE certification.
 
Johnson Malcolm Johnson is Senior News Production Specialist. With SpecPrint in Baltimore since late 2001, his most recent broadcast experience prior to joining AP was as a reporter for WLEX-TV, Lexington, from March 1999 until September 2001. Earlier, since July 1998, he had been a producer-reporter for WMDT-TV, Salisbury, after leaving WBAL-TV, Baltimore, where he had been a sports producer and associate news producer since July 1998. Johnson a graduate of Morgan State University, where he majored in English with a concentration in journalism.
 
Lelievre Sylviane Lelievre is Business Assistant. She has more than 16 years experience in sales and management, including an extensive background in administration in France and in Washington with Agence France Presse. Lelievre grew up on the French Caribbean island of Martinique and holds dual American-European citizenship. In early 1997, she returned to the United States from France, where most recently she had worked with the Paris Transit Authority on quality management projects. Lelievre attended Cornell University and Institut de Gestion Sociale.
 
Petruzzini Mark Petruzzini is Documentation Manager. Before joining AP, he was a technical writer with MicroStrategy in suburban Washington, assigned to the company's flagship business intelligence products. Previously, from June 1998 through December 1999, he was with IBM in San Jose, where he wrote and edited technical documentation, user guides, installation manuals, and on-line help for their content management systems. He had experience in a similar capacity with Oracle Corp. Petruzzini is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, where he earned a double major in Professional and Creative Writing.
 
Rinne Jessica Rinne is News Systems Specialist. Prior to joining AP, she had been a writer and editor at the Club Manager's Association in suburban D.C. Earlier, from late 2003 until mid 2005, she was an operations producer for Hearst-Argyle Television's Washington Bureau. In 2003, she was an associate producer and newsroom assistant at WBAL-TV, Baltimore. Rinne earned a B.S., Mass Communications, from Towson University.
 
Shutt Jon Shutt is News Systems Specialist. From 2001-2003, Shutt was News Director for ESTV at Elon University (N.C.), where he produced weekly student newscasts and managed scheduling, budgeting and staffing. Since 2002, he has also been a computer technician with college and has other experience in customer service and support. Shutt earned a B.A., Broadcast Communications, with a minor in Criminal Justice.
