Eric Bowman
is Director of International Business Development, Newsroom Systems. Before joining AP, he had been Assistant Managing Director, BBC News & Current Affairs, since 1988. Bowman started with the BBC Arabic Service as News Producer in 1969; headed the Middle East office in Beirut from 1971-1976; headed the South East Asia office in Singapore from 1976-1979; ran World Service overseas operations from 1979-1981; headed the BBC's Arabic Service from 1981-1986; and was General Manager of the BBC's Monitoring Service from 1986-1989.

Paul Owens
is BBC ENPS Project Manager. Prior to joining AP and since 1990, he had been Computer Services Manager with the New Zealand Totalisator Agency Board, where he managed computer operations for a real-time transactional system incorporating 550 retail outlets, 79 racetracks, five call centres, a television network and a nationwide PC network. There, he was also responsible for hardware/software support, software release management, budgeting, help desk management, and contract negotiations with service providers. Earlier, since 1986, Owens was Senior Support Engineer with Macroset NZ Ltd., a national computer maintenance organisation in New Zealand, where he provided senior technical support to a team of network and mainframe engineers and pre-sales support to the company's sales team. He is a graduate of Regional Technical College, Cork.

Bryan Girdler
is Technology Development Manager. Prior to joining AP and since 1994, he had been computer systems manager for Dow Jones' European Business News, London (now CNBC/Europe). There, he project managed the U.K.'s first Windows-based television newsroom and, in 1995, worked in New York at DJ's WBIS-TV to implement systems there. He also designed and developed multilingual English-Arabic systems for EBN. Previously, he was an IS consultant to Live TV and, from 1992-1994, was computer systems manager at GMTV, London. From 1986-1992, he was director of Lighthouse Computer Graphics Ltd., where, among other projects, he developed weather and election systems for and still used by Sky News. From 1984-1986, Girdler was a software engineer in the computer graphics area at the BBC. From 1982-1984, he was a development engineer for Quantel on the Paintbox design team. Girdler has broad experience in news system design, implementation, management, engineering, and training and a degree in Physics from the University of Surrey.

Chye Hock
is Product Manager. Prior to joining AP and since early 2000, he had been an Information Systems Engineer with Pan Abrasives Pte Ltd. based in Singapore. He administered Lotus Notes and Windows NT servers there and in regional offices, managed the corporate network, and coordinated database projects and system upgrades. Previously, since 1997, Hock was a Systems Engineer with Television Corporation of Singapore, supporting its News & Current Affairs division and the company's television and radio stations in English, Chinese, Malay and Tamil program production. He was also involved in network planning, systems documentation, and training, as well as deployment and support of ENPS. Hock earned an Electrical Engineering degree from Nanyang Technological University (NTU).

Keisuke Kayaba
is Sales Manager. Prior to joining AP and since late 2000, he had been with Risk Waters Group, London, most recently as a Producer, Risk Conferences, with responsibilities including production of technical markets conferences which included research, writing, and event project management. He was initially a Sales Executive for the company's Risk magazine and also has experience as a manager and sales assistant in the food service and sports industries and as an administrative assistant with Arthur Andersen's telecommunications division. Kayaba earned a Masters degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a BA (Hons) in French and German from University College, London, and St. Peter's College, Oxford.

Trish Kerin
is Operations Administrator. Prior to joining AP, she was Marketing Manager with Get Go Limited, Dublin, Ireland, in 1999-2000, responsibile for all marketing, advertising, public relations and publicity campaigns. From 1993-1998, she was with First Public Relations Limited, first as as Account Manager, then as an Account Director, where she devised and implemented marketing and public relations campaigns for international tourism/leisure related accounts. Kerin also had experience as an Account Executive with Prime Communications and as an assistant to the Managing Director, then an Account Executive, with Destination Marketing Limited. Kerin is a graduate of City College, London.

Esmé Martin
is Sales Administrator. Prior to joining AP and since November 2000, Thompson had been with Ganst Limited, where she supported the marketing/manufacturing company's sales efforts and had general administrative responsibilities including maintenance of customer databases, product research, and coordination of trade show exhibits. Earlier, since May 1999, she had been with Chilla Limited, involved in sales order processing, sales support, marketing, office administration, and exhibitions. Thompson earned a BA (Hons) from Portsmouth University and a Foundation Dimploma in Art and Design from West Surrey College of Art and Design.

Paddy Payne
is Sales Manager. Prior to joining AP, since April 2002, Payne led a team of five as Regional Sales Director for Encoda Systems' Media Management Division, where he was responsible for sales, marketing and business development strategy in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Earlier, he was Business Development Manager with Expocentric Plc, a pioneer in interactive on-line media, conference and exhibition services. From 1997-1999, he was Director of Conferences for Euromoney Institutional Investor Plc, and, from 1992-1997, he was Conference Director for Baltic Publishing Ltd. Fluent in English, French, German, Payne is experienced in presenting complex technology and service solutions to international organisations and government agencies. He earned a BA (Hons.) in Theology from Cambridge University.

Natalie Peters
is Operations Manager. She has a BSc in Information Technology and Business Information Systems from Middlesex University, London, where she had a concentrations in expert systems, information analysis, information technology, multimedia and data/telecommunications. Prior to joining AP, since 1995, Peters had been with the Mount Pleasant Post Office in London.

Anthony Prangley
is Product Manager. Prior to joining AP and since 1991, he had been on the computer development and support team at ITN, London. While there, he designed and programmed databases for the election unit, order processing systems for the library and ITV news desk, and leave recording systems. He also worked in a key support role on BASYS and Avid NetStation, Windows 95, and Windows NT and was responsible for the day-to-day management of ITN's electronic mail and Internet-related systems. Earlier, he worked for British Telecom in Oxford and at broadcaster SBS, Sydney, Australia. Prangley has a M.A. (Hons) in Economics and Politics from the University of Edinburgh and completed postgraduate studies with an MSc in Information Technology from Bristol Polytechnic.

Efe Atunumuo
is Help Desk Specialist. Prior to joining AP and since 2000, he had been with Sainsburys Plc, London, as a store assistant. In 1998-2000, he was a medical technical officer with Great Ormond Street Hospital, London, and, in 1997-1998, he was a research scientist with Gyre Limited, London. Atunumuo earned a BSc (Hons) Biotechnology from South Bank University, London. He also has network training and Windows NT MCP certification.

Andrew Davis
is Help Desk Supervisor. Prior to joining AP as a Help Desk Specialist and since 2000, he was a Call Escalator with Specialised Computer Centre, Watford, U.K., where he helped coordinate operational problems, updated customer databases, liaised with customers and supported field engineers. Previously, in 1999, he was with Greenscene, London, as a Seasonal Plant Worker and, in 1998-99, an Apiarist/Kiwifruit Pollination with Pringles Apiaries, Tauranga, New Zealand. Davis earned a Bachelor of Management Studies with honours from the University of Waikato, New Zealand.

Ian Gearing
is Help Desk Specialist. Prior to joining AP and since January 2001, he had been with Logie Systems in South Africa as a PC Technician, where he built and repaired computer systems, provided support, and had responsibilities for purchasing and configuration. Gearing earned a Matric Certificate from Roodepoort College, Johannesburg, and received computer training at the Computer Training Institute there.

Mike Gonzalez
is News Systems Specialist. Prior to joining AP and since April 1999, Gonzalez had been with Avstar Systems, Basingstoke, U.K., as a Newsroom Computer Systems Specialist. There, his responsibilities included installation, system configuration, testing, and customer requirements analysis. Earlier, beginning in September 1997, he was with Tektronix as Regional NewStar Specialist for the Asia Pacific region based in Hong Kong, where he provided installation, training, client support, and sales support for NewStar newsroom systems. From July 1993-August 1997, he was in Autocue Ltd.'s technical support group in London working with Autocue and Newsmaker products. In 1991-1992, he worked in the systems quality management group for Digital Equipment Corp. in Reading. Gonzalez earned a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Hertfordshire.

Saema Karim
is News Systems Specialist. She had been an IT Consultant with Thames Computers Ltd. in the United Kingdom, where she supported Windows client and server environments and related applications. Earlier, in 1998, Karim was a Systems Analyst at Great Lakes R&D Ltd., where she provided PC and network support for multiple sites in London and for more than 200 users at each location. From February 1997 until June 1998, she was MIS Administrator for Psygnosis, a leading games development company, where she had a similar role. Karim earned a BSc (Hons) in Biotechnology from South Bank University, London, and is also an MCSE.

is Help Desk Supervisor. Prior to joining AP and since February 1999, he had been with NatWest Group Property as a Rents Payable Accounts Officer, where duties included accounting, support for state asset surveyors, liaising with agents and landlords, and staff systems training. Earlier, since 1991, he had been a manager in the restaurant business. Khan earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Westminster, London.

Phil Kingsbury
is Senior Support Specialist. Prior to joining AP in 1996, he was with BBC IT Services, where he had been a staff consultant since 1995. In 1994-1995, he was customer service supervisor for Avid Technology/Europe, after serving in the same role with BASYS Automation Systems from 1990-1994. He had been with the BBC from 1983-1990, starting as an engineer, then deputy supervisor, and then computer support supervisor at BBC Radio. Kingsbury has a degree in Electrical Engineering and Electronics.

Andrew Lale
is News Systems Specialist. Prior to joining AP and since 1998, he had been with Touchstone Group PLC, London, as a Technical Consultant. There, he supported SQL Server, Metaframe, NetWare, BackOffice, and Windows NT and Windows 2000 systems, including installation, configuration, documentation and disaster recovery. Earlier, since 1992, he had been IT Manager and in technology support for the National Union of Journalists, London, where he was involved in planning and budgeting, application support, server support and reporting. Lale earned an MA in Philosophy from the University of London and a BA in History and Philosophy from the University of Alabama, Huntsville. He is a Microsoft Certified Professional.

John Lemming
is News Systems Specialist. Prior to joining AP and since 1997, he had been Systems Administrator at CNBC Europe Ltd., London, responsible for internal networks and computing infrastructure. There, he was also the primary IT support manager for the galleries, studios, and broadcast systems. Earlier, starting in 1996, he was Internet Developer for EBN, which merged with CNBC Europe. Lemming studied Physics at Queen Mary College and is a Microsoft Certified Professional in TCP/IP networking and Exchange Server.

Javad Movahedi
is News Systems Specialist. Prior to joining AP and since 1999, he had been a Technical Support Specialist with Sharp Technology Ltd., London, where he provided telephone and on-site support, assisted in the design of custom-built PCs, and helped establish computer networks in external environments including schools and universities. Movahedi earned a BA (Hons First) in Modern History and a Masters Degree in Computer Science from the University of Westminster, London.

Prior to joining AP and since 1997, he had been a customer support executive on full-time assignment to AP from Keep Watch Programs Ltd. where he worked on ENPS data migration projects. That followed 10 years with the BBC World Service in London, where he was involved in the audio area and IT support.

Steve Pearson
is News Systems Specialist. He joined AP in 1997 from 963 Liberty/RTM Radio, London, where he was a radio journalist/technician, and assisted in the implementation of new digital audio editing systems. From 1994-1995, Pearson supported IT systems at Jay Design, an architectural practice, and, since 1992, had worked for Pimlico Arts and Media in photography. Prior to that, since 1986, he was a pre-production editor at the Daily Telegraph, Sunday Correspondent and Today newspapers, where he developed new procedures for computerized picture production. Before that, he was a Systems Analyst for Sperry Univac, an Electronics Engineer at Kalle Infotec, and a Service Engineer for IBM in New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

is Training Coordinator. Prior to joining AP as a Help Desk Specialist and since October 2000, she had been an IT Helpdesk Analyst with NSB, Hertfordshire, providing software telephone support to retailers and logging/resolving calls. Earlier, she was an Administrative Assistant with Brian Melville Vehicular Engineering and an Administrator with NorWest Holst Construction Ltd. Rai earned a BA (Hons) in Media, Theory & Production from Paisley University, Scotland.

Prior to joining AP and since June 1998, he had been Project Co-ordinator/Manager for Marks & Spencer plc in London, where duties included deployment of Windows NT, implementation of Y2K compliance upgrades, and software packaging, testing, support, documentation and configuration. Earlier, starting in 1998, Rossini was a Network Consultant with Cream Computers UK Ltd., Ripley, where he designed and administered client networks and, from 1995-1997, Systems Manager for Greenwich Group Ltd., London, where he was involved with implementation and management of administrative systems. He has been involved in IT projects since 1989, working in South Africa, New Zealand, England and Wales. Rossini is an MCSE and earned a National Diploma in Computer Data Processing from Natal Technikon.
