ENPS secure first Angolan Contract

Zimbo Television this week became the first company in Angola to adopt Associated Press’ Essential News Production System. Angola is the fifth country in Africa after Algeria, South Africa, Botswana and Egypt to have acquired ENPS.

The Angolan deal to secure 25 ENPS workstation licences has a planned go-live date of December 14th 2008. The playout and production systems will be a Building 4 Media FORK system which will use Newsmaker to manage the MOS interface with ENPS. The prompter will be supplied by Autoscript.

"We are delighted that Zimbo TV will be using ENPS in their new newsroom. It is tremendously exciting to be part of a new project in this growing broadcast market and we hope to enjoy a fruitful relationship with Zimbo TV for years to come," said Keisuke Kayaba, Sales Manager, ENPS, Middle East and Asia.

ENPS System Administrator training will begin this week in Johannesburg, with the installation to follow in Luanda in mid October. Following on-site training there will be several weeks of dry runs and practice time before the system is due to go live in December.

Two ENPS distributors are involved in the project. Inala Broadcast is the ENPS authorised Southern African distributor, based in Johannesburg. They will be responsible for supplying and installing ENPS at the customer site, and for the ongoing support of the system. Ibertelco of Portugal, who were responsible for introducing ENPS to the Zimbo TV management, are working closely with project consultants, VSC, and the Portuguese system integrator GISP/BS Consulting.
