Indian TV channel celebrates first year with ENPS
It has been one year since Amrita TV station in India chose ENPS - Associated Press’ news production system - for their broadcasting operation. They have now been live with the ENPS broadcast software for one year, on air 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Amrita TV broadcasts in Malayalam, and features six news bulletins a day, interspersed with culture and entertainment programming.
Amrita TV is based in Trivandrum, South India, and was set-up to provide top-quality entertainment to audiences across the Middle East, South-East Asia, and Europe. There are already plans underway to broadcast to viewers in Australia, Canada and the USA in the near future.
Amrita TV is under the ownership of Mata Amritanandamayi Mutt, a non-profit organisation committed to charitable social activities in the Kerala region of India.
When asked to explain their choice of ENPS, G. P. Nair, Head of Engineering at Amrita TV, said: "When Amrita TV was on the look out for total news room automation; handling wire stories, script and rundown on one side and digital media system on the other side, we were keen to go for the Media Object Server Protocol, so that each can maintain their own specific workflow and proprietary technology, but could exchange information through MOS. As ENPS was developed by the broadcast journalists of Associated Press and is used by many broadcasters across the world, and is supported by MOS Protocol, Amrita went for ENPS of AP".
Amrita TV signed the contract with Mr P. R. Suresh, Managing Director of Shaf, who represents all ENPS interests in India.
"We are proud to have this partnership with Amrita TV. The implementation of ENPS at the start of their development, as a precursor to a new newsroom in a new facility, has provided them with both flexibility as they update their workflow as well as a stable platform for integrating newly-installed newsroom hardware," said ENPS' Eric Bowman.
