ENPS scores four successive deals in run up to NAB
ENPS has signed four new clients - one a month - since the start of 2006, spanning three continents.
Broadcasters in Greece, Indonesia, India and Jordan - two of which are green-field sites - have selected ENPS, Associated Press' news production system, for their broadcasting operation.
Smart TV, based in Athens, has already installed ENPS for three of its channels, with plans for full integration with the fourth channel on track for completion in the autumn. Smart TV is part of the Skai Radio group, owned by John Alafouzos, who also owns the daily Kathimerini newspaper. Future plans are underway for an integrated operation with TV, radio, and print all linking into a central planning and newsgathering system, with ENPS at its heart.
The recent liberalisation of broadcast media in Indonesia has resulted in hundreds of new radio stations emerging all over the country. In light of this, the UNDP has set up a broadcast media training school in Jakarta to support a new generation of emerging journalists. Installation of ENPS software is already underway, and will play a central role in their newsroom operation.
MM, or Malayala Manorama, is ENPS' first signing in India this year, and its fifth in the country. Based in Kerala, South India - MM is one of the largest print publishers in India, and is set to launch a new TV news channel. The initial 40 workstations will be located in the Broadcaster's state-of-the-art Cochin studios and plans are that the system will go live by the summer. Other Indian clients are Sahara TV, Channel 7 JTV, Amrita TV and state broadcaster Doordarshan.
In the Middle East ENPS has signed up Al Ghad in Jordan. The station is being set up to provide top quality news and entertainment programmes to audiences throughout the Middle East, North Africa, and the Gulf region. The initial 30 workstations are being installed over the next few months, with the possibility of future expansion.
"We were looking for a newsroom system to facilitate flow within the newsroom, from searching and retrieving information, to the planning and transmission of our programmes - and knew that ENPS was the ideal tool to support our team," said Mohannad Khatib, Managing Director.
"It is very encouraging to see that ENPS is the software of choice for broadcasters from a broad range of environments. From the multimedia installation in Greece, to the new broadcast environment in sites like Jordan, and the training facility in Indonesia - all can rely on the flexibility of ENPS to enable a range of operations across the globe" said Keisuke Kayaba, ENPS's Sales Manager.
