Hi Tech Systems

Hi Tech System’s actiV News control system is the latest addition to its successful line of VTR, DDR and Server controllers. This Betacart styled hardware panel interfaces between a video server and ENPS using MOS without the need for an automation system.

Running Orders created in ENPS are automatically transferred to the actiV Newsbox via the actiV NewsManager. This information is dynamically updated to reflect changes made in the Running Order.

actiV News also provides the ability to associate an ENPS slug with a Video Server clip even before that clip exists. Running Orders appear in the actiV Newsbox as a series of shot lists which can be manipulated and taken to air using the Newsbox control panel on up to four server channels. Clips can be automatically or manually assigned to a controller LCD shot button and playback channel.

LCD buttons on the controller provide indicators for each story including its length and channel number. Each channel has a cue, take, eject button for the operator. ENPS users can manually or automatically switch between shows, get status information of whether the clip exists or not on the video server, and display a dynamic status of the clips within the Running Order.

Supported ENPS Workflow

Running Order Control

This device allows ENPS to dynamically build and control a playlist within the media server. Changes to the Running Order in ENPS result in immediate changes to the sequence of media objects queued for playout by the media server.

Item Status

This vendor sends real-time status information during playback and other functions which is displayed through ENPS writers and producers in real-time. This includes the use of a minimum set of standard status messages which enable color coding and the automated movement of the ENPS timing bar.

Media Awareness

This device sends ENPS a description of the media it stores.  The description contains structured metadata and a pointer to the media object. This information is used by ENPS to return media in search results. Pointers are used to link media to ENPS documents, including Stories, Running Orders and Assignments using simple drag and drop workflow.
